What is Calisthenics?

Calisthenics is a form of physical training aimed at mastering your own body weight. The word comes from the Greek: Kalos and Sthenos. Literally translated, this means “Beautiful” “Power”. It is the art and science of the beautiful movement.

The exercises involve movements that use large muscle groups, such as pushups, pull ups, burpees but also more extreme skills such as the front lever, human flag or the handstand. They help to improve coordination, flexibility, and strength.

Tips for beginners:

  1. Get a health check up if you had or are suffering from recent injuries, surgery or heavy sickness.
  2. Set yourself short and mid-term goals.
  3. Create sustainable habits towards these goals.
